Hiding in Plain Sight: How Virtual Summer Support Modules Can Aid in Retention Work

Tuesday, May 7, 2024 @ Noon EST

Facilitator: Carroll Crowson, Baylor University

Student lack of engagement in optional resources can be a great opportunity to identify which students may be more likely to leave the institution. Baylor created a virtual module in Canvas to support first year students who matriculated in summer. From this data, they noticed differences in retention rates for students who participated in the module and those who didn’t. Come learn more about their process, outcomes and next steps.

The Four C’s of Effective Student Engagement

May – Date and Time TBD

Facilitator: David Lee, Southern Methodist University

Navigating the continuously changing landscape of students’ competing interests and needs makes effective and economical marketing essential to the success of any summer program, and special sessions offices are facing increasingly limited time and resources. In this webinar, we will revisit the framework’s “Four C’s” – Contact, Conversation, Connection, and Commitment, and explore ways of effectively connecting our students with the significant opportunities of summer and special session programming.
