NAASS is committed to offering a safe in-person experience for attendees in 2022. We will also follow all guidelines of our host city, Philadelphia, PA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Attendees are encouraged to review the various levels of guidance found here. Masks are not required, but they are encouraged in conference meeting spaces.

Join us in cultivating community and networking opportunities at our next exciting annual conference. The mission of our NAASS conference is to promote the advancement of scholarship and research to enhance the critical nature of summer and specials sessions for higher education institutions.
If you’re involved in the administration and offering of summer, winter, or special sessions, then this conference is for you! We will share and learn more about activities and research that support innovation and best practices in these special sessions. . We aim to provide an opportunity for professional growth and for an open exchange of ideas to develop quality summer programming and academic standards.
Plus – join keynote speaker Sara Woods, President and CEO of Philadelphia Futures, who will kick off our conference. As President and CEO of the organization, Sara helps low-income students succeed in high school and obtain a college degree.

To keep you and your colleagues safe, NAASS asks that you please not attend the conference if you are feeling ill. We also know that some of you have been affected by Hurricane/TS Ian, and hope you are staying safe and well. In these instances, we will provide you with a credit for the full price of the NAASS conference fees (excluding hotel and airfare). The credit may be applied to the 2023 NAASS conference and expires after 12 months. Please request a credit due to illness in writing by contacting NAASS here and include “COVID Credit Request” in the subject line..

Sara Woods will be a keynote speaker of the 2022 annual conference. Sara L. Woods, Esq. is privileged to serve as the President and CEO of Philadelphia Futures. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Penn State University, and a Juris Doctor and a Masters of Public Administration from Villanova University. She is also an adjunct professor at Villanova University School of Law where she teaches a Public Interest Lawyering course. Sara previously served as Executive Director of Philadelphia VIP, a nonprofit that recruits, trains, and supports lawyers who volunteer to help low-income Philadelphians tackle critical legal problems. Sara also worked as the Director of Public Interest Careers and Pro Bono Programs at Villanova University School of Law.
Sara serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors of Access Matters, which works to equalize access to sexual and reproductive health care for teens and adults in need, and on the advisory board of the Crime Victims Law Project. Her favorite college course was Women’s Studies 001 as it changed her college and career trajectory, and she is grateful to Professor Donna Hughes for that experience.
Sean Vereen, Ed.D., who will also be a keynote speaker at the NAASS annual conference, has been the President of Steppingstone Scholars since 2013. Under Sean’s leadership, Steppingstone has launched several innovative new programs and strategic partnerships, which have increased the organization’s impact and scope. Today, Steppingstone serves 2,500 students, a 300% increase during his tenure.
A noted thought leader in educational pedagogy and racial, social, and economic inequities within the educational system, Sean served as Vice Chair of the Mayor’s Education Nominating Board for the School District of Philadelphia’s Board of Education and is a member of Johns Hopkins (Hopkins) Access Advisory Board, a national advisory board working with Hopkins’ Undergraduate Admissions Office to support their efforts to realize the goals of Michael Bloomberg’s $1.8 billion gift to Hopkins to increase the population of low-income and first generation students. He is also a board member of the Philadelphia School Partnership and a lecturer in the Higher Education Division at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. Sean received his B.A. from the University of Rochester and his Ed.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.

Join us for our pre-conference New Administrators’ Workshop, Sunday October 2 from 8:30 am to 3 pm.
Join 10 experienced and dynamic workshop leaders as they take you on a tour of the summer/special sessions world and send you off with real-world tools.
This is also a chance to establish some meaningful connections to peers within NAASS that will last for years. Register for this pre-conference workshop when you sign up for the annual conference here.
The New Administrators’ Workshop takes place at the Annual Conference in Philadelphia on Sunday, October 2 from 8:30 pm to 3 pm (before the conference keynote speaker at 5 pm).
